Jord Wood Watches Review!

jord wood watch review

When I first heard about Jord Wood Watches, I didn’t really know what to expect. I figured a watch made out of wood would be heavy and bulky. Boy, was I wrong!

I jumped at the chance to give one of Jord’s wood watches a try (because I am kind of obsessed with watches and all), and I chose the Sidney watch in maple and rose gold. The watch is a beautiful maple color, and the rose gold watch face is so classy and a nice touch to the wooden band.

The watch was VERY lightweight despite being made out of wood. I found it to be much lighter than the watches I own that have silicone bands!

There are a variety of wood bands to choose from, each of which has an elegant-looking finish:

  • Koa
  • Zebrawood
  • Maple
  • Cherry

I want one of these watches in each finish! I had never heard of Zebrawood before, and it makes for a VERY nice watch band!

You can get Jord watches with a wooden face or with a metal face like the one on the Sidney watch. And, there are watches with more rectangular faces – the 746, the Delmar and the 94A – which make them more unique than your typical watch.

Jord also has come out with its new Dover line of men’s watches that feature 3D numbers and gears on the watch face. It’s so neat and trendy – something I really want to get for my husband. He would love it! And, Jord has a Pujols Family Foundation watch that features a maple band with the Pujols Family Foundation logo etched on the watch face. When you buy this watch, 20% of all proceeds from the sale will be donated directly to the Pujols Family Foundation.

Our style is guided by a deep appreciation for natural elements and modern design. Wood is not just a component of our watches, it is the main feature. The intricacy and multiplicity of the woods we utilize in our designs insure that each watch is as distinctive as the owner.

Jord watches come in a gorgeous wooden box, which makes them ready to give as a gift with no other work necessary!

Costume SuperCenter Review: Wonder Woman Costume

wonder woman costume review

My 4-year-old daughter is REALLY into superheroes these days. Her favorite superhero is Wonder Woman (of course!), so when I got the opportunity to review a child’s Wonder Woman costume from Costume SuperCenter, I was SO excited! I couldn’t wait for it to arrive!

When our package arrived, my daughter tore into it and gasped when she saw what was inside! She had to put it on immediately and refused to take it off! It is a great quality, and I love all the extras included, such as the arm cuffs, headband, belt and boots. I seriously think the boots are my favorite part – they add so much to the costume! I do wish the belt had been attached to the costume as it slides around because my daughter is so skinny, but that really is a minor detail. We have a superhero-themed dress up birthday party coming up at the end of the month, so our little Wonder Woman is REALLY excited to wear her new, fabulous costume!

We also had fun checking out the other superhero costumes at Costume SuperCenter to find some others to add to my daughter’s dress up collection. My kiddo has already added the Mrs. Incredible and Bat Girl costumes to her wish list! There’s also a Supergirl costume, which I’m loving! I kind of thought we made up Supergirl when we paired a Superman shirt with a tutu skirt!

Dressing up is a great way to gear up for the many upcoming superhero movies as well! I have a feeling my daughter is going to want to see Batman v. Superman in 2016! It will make for a great daddy-daughter date!

Is your little one into superheroes? Who is his or her favorite?

iLeesh Review

My husband and I had been talking about getting a dog for our daughter but, with three cats, it wasn’t something that we planned on doing right away. Until an ice storm in February hit, and my husband found an abandoned dog at the gas station down the street. Of course, we took her in, and as soon as the ice melted and the roads were passable, my daughter and I headed to Dollar Tree to get some necessities, including a leash.

We really wanted to try a retractable leash for her because, although the cheaper leash worked great, she is VERY active and runs WAY faster than we do (OK, than *I* do). So, when we got the chance to review a leash from iLeesh.com, we were really excited!

I picked the “I Love My Dog” leash because, at the time, we didn’t know what kind of dog she is (we since have found out she’s a rat terrier). I love that it’s generic so that it works for any dog. We can use it for any future dogs as well! But, if you want a leash that is specific to your dog, you probably can find it at iLeesh. There are 72 leashes each featuring a different brand of dog to choose from. I think they have them all covered!

When we got the leash, we couldn’t wait to try it out. We LOVE it! It doesn’t go out too far, but it goes out far enough to give our dog enough room to run ahead of us as we walk her. And, my favorite – I can stand under the overhang in front of our door when it’s raining while she does her business! I’m all for not getting wet!

I also love the company. The leash arrived very quickly, and the service was great! And, you don’t have to be worried if you don’t like your leash for whatever reason. There is a 30-day money back guarantee and a 1-year warranty!

Do you have a retractable leash? What do you love the most about it?

Review – Chalk Preschool

This is a sponsored campaign with Mums the Word Network and Chalk Preschool . All opinions are my own.

My daughter started preschool this year, and she LOVES it! She tells me every night that she has to go to school the next day so she can learn, and when she misbehaves, we threaten to not let her go to school as a punishment! That makes her straighten up quickly!

Now that school is coming to an end, I’ve been looking for something to do with her during the summer months to keep her in the habit of learning, so we gave Chalk Preschool a try! I really liked the site. It’s really easy to use, and each day has its own preschool curriculum in each of the following areas – dailies, weather, literacy, math/science and art.

Under each category, there are several video lessons from which you can choose. I love all the various preschool lesson plans from which she can choose. For instance, all the songs and tracing videos under literacy are totally up her alley. The science videos are really neat, too.

When we first tried out the curriculum, we used some of the printables. Lucy’s favorite was the weather printable. She loved looking outside to check the weather and then marking it on its respective day of the week.

We had fun going through (a LOT) of the other curriculum as well! Lucy LOVED the songs that were included, and I did, too. Songs are such a great way to teach kids about various subjects. Lucy’s favorites were the “Weather Song” and the “Alphabet Song”.

Lucy also loved one of the food crafts in the science section – using apples, raisins and pretzels to create ladybugs! She wanted to watch it over and over!

Other aspects of Chalk Preschool that I love are its Chalk Preschool Blog, where parents can find all sorts of information from art projects and songs to things that Chalk Preschool is doing, such as its collaboration with My Gym Children’s Fitness Center. You’ll also find tips and tricks as well as posts on healthy eating. And, in the Chalk Preschool Newsroom, you’ll find even more news as well as ways to integrate learning with holidays!

Easter Peeps Review!

easter peeps review

I don’t know about you, but Peeps are an Easter staple in our house! We love them (they are one of my husband’s favorite candies!), and we always buy a bunch each Easter.

So, when I got the chance to review some Easter peeps, I jumped at the chance! We received a HUGE box of candy (seriously, I don’t know how we’ll get through them all!) and, of course, we dove in! The photo above shows just a sampling of what we received because my original picture was accidentally deleted!

My husband loved the chocolate covered Peeps. This isn’t your typical Peep. It’s unique, and it’s the perfect combination of chocolate and marshmallow.

My daughter’s favorite was the Hollow Milk Chocolate Peep Egg. I had no idea Peeps made this! My 4-year-old daughter loved it! When she bit into the hollow egg, a Peep chick appeared! I tried to interview her about them. Want to know what she said? “Some were chocolate. They tasted like marshmallow!”

Here’s what we got:

  • Traditional Peep Chicks
  • Peep Bunnies
  • Peep Pop
  • Party Cake Peeps
  • Hollow Milk Chocolate Peep Egg
  • Peeps Chocolate Mousse
  • Peepsters

I had never heard of Peepsters before, but they’re great! They’re Peeps marshmallow-flavored chocolates, which are perfect for the chocolate lover!

And, while all Peeps lovers like to eat them straight, you can use them in a variety of ways – put them on top of cupcakes for a fun Easter dessert that both kids AND adults will love!

Easter may be on Sunday, but there’s still time to pick up all of your Peeps favorites! You can find them at most of your favorite retailers. And, if you’re like us, you’ll be stocking up the day after Easter when all the holiday candy goes on sale!

What’s your favorite kind of Peep? Leave a comment and let us know!
